Redefining Beautiful Week 3: Chapters 3 & 4

Last Weeks Girls Group was amazing!  I love you girls!  I feel so blessed to be leading you!  Ok so this week we learned how important dad's are in the lives of thier little girls!  We talked about where our style influence comes from.  Guess what it's our dad's as well!  (Really!)  You may or may not see it now, but three big areas of life are significantly influenced by a daughter's relationship with her dad.

the way she looks at herself
the way she looks at others
the way she looks at God

So dad's you have a very important job!

Please remember whether your dad is wonderful, terrible or somewhere inbetween, no earthly dad is perfect enough to flawlessly complete our look.  (only our heavenly father can!)

Next Meeting Sunday October 17th 6:30-8 p.m. Room 301

See ya there!  Have a Beautiful Day!

Redefining Beautiful Week 2: Weird is Beautiful!

WoW!  Tonights lesson time went by wayyy to fast!  We only made it through Chapter One But I gave your girls home work to do!  Finish Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 by our next meeting.

Next Meeting Sunday October 3rd 6:30-8 p.m.

SO what did we talk about?:
Weird is Beautiful!  We all are weird or different in our own way and that is Beautiful! (and what makes you, well you!)  What's Your Style?  We decided that my style is just :  Christina!  (I know not real creative but hey it's mine so there!)  Remember our style is more than how we dress, it's the little quirky things that make us, us! Like the fact that I love, Love, LOVE, Bags.  Any shape, size, color! I have an obsession with them!  If I could I would have just a closet for bags! Seriously! I Love Candy, all kinds but especially Chocolate!

We wrote down some of our struggles and fear, or insecurities, and we all have them!  (Yep! Even me!
That's what I am praying about for you this week, is that your struggles, insecurities will not overwhelm you, that you will be freed from them!

In Chapter 2, we begin the cleaning process! We need to clean up what, we think, how we feel about ourselves!  In Chapter 2 we learn real beauty has little to do with what we wear or how we look! It's about what's inside!  No matter how beautiful we've made up our outside, if we don't have the right inside accessories, we won't look great. So, where do we get those accessories? (No it's not Accessory City) And what are they? What is it that we really need?    Sometimes we don't really know what we need, and sometimes we think we need things we really don't!   What are your life accessories?  Jenna's List on page 23 is a great place to start!   Don't forget to do this for homework!

Hope you are enjoying the book as much as I am!  Have an Amazing Week!  See ya soon!

Love ya

Redefining Beautiful: Week 1 Intro

beau·ti·ful   /ˈbyutəfəl/ Show Spelled[byoo-tuh-fuhl]

–adjective
1. having beauty; having qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.; delighting the senses or mind
2. excellent of its kind
3. wonderful; very pleasing or satisfying.

What does Beautiful mean to you?

For me Beauty isn't necessarily a phsical thing, it's mostly what I see when I look at someone.  The most Beautiful people I know are beautiful because of thier actions, what they do not what they look like!   Lovely inside, and out, Confident, Content, Loved, Gentle, Caring, Fun, Exciting, Unique

Tonights Girls Group was sooo fun!  We started our new book Redefining Beautiful by Jenna Lucado.  We ate smore's!  Yummy Yummy!  Had some pretty good conversations! We listed some fun things we want to do:  Spa Night, Craft Night, Overnighter, Tea Party, Camping, Paper Airplane Flying Contest!   Be watching the Blog for updates when these will happen!

Here is a fun picture of our night together!

Sunday Nights Girls Group was Awesome!  I hope those that came (and even those that couldn't be there) really got the message: that God Loves you and you have a purpose!

God created Eve because she was needed.  She brought beauty, to Eden.  I can't even begin to imagine the fellowship she had with God.  When Eve ate the apple, her eyes were opened (not to the Beauty around her), but to the nakedness and with that came shame.  God did not intend for us to feel shame, especially with our bodies, but all to often we girls do! God created us in His Image! as a masterpiece! Do you see yourself as a masterpiece?  When was the last time you looked in the mirror and said "I am Beautiful"?  Well girls that's your homework for the next month, everyday I want you looking at yourself, right into your eyes and say: You are Beautiful!  Repeat it unitl you mean, know it, and Believe it!

If you weren't at Girls Group this week we made  a list of the top 5 things we liked/loved about ourselves!  For some it was pretty hard to come up with 5, and that breaks my heart! So think about that, what are 5 things you like/love about yourself?  Can you name 5? How about 10?  Need help? Ask me or ask a friend I betcha we cna come up with 5 or 10 or 20 or more!  Because you are Beautiful, a Masterpiece!

Have a Beautiful Day!

MIddle School Girls

WOW, I am soo amazed at how God works (I shouldn't be He always comes through!) Today we started our new books Waffles and Spaghetti.  We met at Pizza Hut for some pizza, salad and great conversations.  Since we had so many new girls and as a way to get to know one another we swapped seats around the table and "interviewed" one another!  So fun!  Here are a few pictures of all the Girls talking and sharing.

And here are some of the Girls just hanging out!

After eating all the pizza we could and sharing with one another we went out side, on pizza hut's front lawn and started diggin into our first lesson.  What did we learn?  SOOOOOOOOOOO gald you asked! :)

First we learned that Guys are different than girls! DUH! Right! We talked about why it's good to be a girl!  And shared some prayer requests!  Sorry I didn't get any outside pictures. It was a beautiful day!

Psalm 139:13-14
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Hope you have a Beautiful Week!

Mean Girls and Boys : Our Words Matter!

Stick and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me!
I'm rubber your glue whatever you say bounces off me and stick to you!

We have all heard these phrases and probably said them many times but it's not true, WORDS HURT!
(I know from experience)

This is Phobe Prince, you don't know her, but you should! Phobe was a typical 14 year old girl who was bullyied until she took her own life~

I want you to read this story because girls, you don't have to put up with this!  You are loved!  Sitting in Summit last night I got to talk to some of  you and what I am hearing breaks my heart! I want you to know I know what it feels like to have some one pick on you, to have someone every single day make fun of you, put you down, and make you feel like your not good enough!  I've lived it!  In 6th grade I had a girl who made my life horrible!  I hated going to school and even refused to go on the annual class camping trip because I was afraid of what she would say to me while we were there!  I missed out because of the words of one person!  I wish I could go back and tell that Girl to ZIP IT!  And to block out what she said, but I can't!  What I can do is  continue allow God to bring healing (ooohhh Girl's I promise He can and does!)  and I can meditate on His words!

Deuteronomy 11:18-21 (The Message) 18-21 Place these words on your hearts. Get them deep inside you. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder. Teach them to your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning until you fall into bed at night. Inscribe them on the doorposts and gates of your cities so that you'll live a long time, and your children with you, on the soil that God promised to give your ancestors for as long as there is a sky over the Earth.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Psalm 20:1-6 (The Message) 1-4 God answer you on the day you crash, The name God-of-Jacob put you out of harm's reach, Send reinforcements from Holy Hill, Dispatch from Zion fresh supplies, Exclaim over your offerings, Celebrate your sacrifices, Give you what your heart desires, Accomplish your plans. 5 When you win, we plan to raise the roof and lead the parade with our banners. May all your wishes come true! 6 That clinches it—help's coming, an answer's on the way, everything's going to work out.

Proverbs 15:1  A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Psalm 147: 3-5 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 4 He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. 5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

Psalm 138:8 The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever—

Nahum 1:7 (Amplified Bible) 7The Lord is good, a Strength and Stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows (recognizes, has knowledge of, and understands) those who take refuge and trust in Him.

Trust in God!  He will see you through anything!  And stop, I repeat stop holding on to these hurts!  It's ok to ask for help! It's ok to let them go!  Find a person (a parent, a teacher, a youth leader, an adult you trust) and share what you are feeling!  Know you are not alone!  Please don't allow others to make you feel less than what you are!  I love you and I am praying for you!

Know you are Loved, Thought of, & Prayed for!
